Testimonial From Dr. Cathriona Foley.
Cancer is a diagnosis that 1 in 2 people will receive in their lifetime. Cancer is diagnosed in younger and younger people every year.
Aid Cancer Treatment recognise and support essential cancer research aiming to understand and reverse these trends for people of the region and globally.
Working with Aid Cancer Treatment volunteers was a fantastic and rewarding experience. Their direct connection with patients, their families and health care professionals ensures the research they support aims to achieve impact for patients with cancer.Aid Cancer Treatment volunteers are diligent, professional and have a patient first approach in every aspect of their decision making.Their provision of flow cytometry equipment to the University College Cork, Department of Surgery, on the Cork University Hospital campus, has had immediate impact on our research assessing whether an imbalance in a patient’s immune response before or after surgery may contribute to the return of cancer after surgery.
Not only is this supporting cancer research to discover new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease, it is also supporting and inspiring future generations of undergraduate and postgraduate researchers in UCC to follow suit.
